FBA BOARD MEMBER UPDATE

At the recent FBA Board winter retreat, two long time members stepped
down from their positions and a former member rejoined the group. Carol
Pulley and Tina Russo have made tremendous contributions during their
years of service and will be missed. Fortunately, both have agreed to
serve as Advisory Board members so all is not lost.  Linda Crider will
bring experience, energy and enthusiasm to the board.

Carol joined the board in December 2001 bringing her skills as a
transportation planner with the West Florida Regional Planning Council
covering Escambia, Okaloosa and Santa Rosa counties.  She retired a
couple years ago to spend more time with family, plus could devote more
time to FBA activities.  Recently she came out of retirement to join the
staff of Santa Rosa County which will limit her travel time needed to
attend FBA gatherings.  Northwest Florida is lucky to have Carol working
for better bicycling and walking conditions.

Tina joined the board in August 1998 bringing her skills as a trails
manager with Hillsborough County Parks Department. Over the years, her
expertise and passion as an advocate through education and enforcement
has influenced the lives of many.  Her devotion to educating and working
with law enforcement has been a vital element in the success FBA has had
in education and enforcement programs.  Tina will continue this work and
be available to help FBA as time permits.

Linda Crider, a former board president, stepped down in December 2001 as
the senior and last original member of the board to devote more time to
her many other responsibilities with the Florida Traffic and Bicycle
Safety Education Program and Bike Florida. The board is happy to have
Linda back.

Are you interested in learning more about the FBA board and ways to get
involved? The next meeting will be held in Orlando April 14, 2007.

STEP UP, FLORIDA!  PROMOTES ACTIVE, HEALTHY LIFESTYLE

Step Up, Florida — On our way to healthy living!SM  is an annual
statewide initiative promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles
to Floridians of all ages and abilities. Participants will engage in
physical activities to promote awareness about the importance of daily
physical activity for youth and adults and to highlight opportunities
around the state where Floridians can be physically active.

The 2007 event will celebrate four years of promoting the importance of
physical activity to Floridians. Each county health department, in
conjunction with community partners, will determine specific local
events and physical activity opportunities that will be highlighted
throughout their community.

Everyone knows that regular exercise greatly improves one’s health, but
getting started is not always easy. Step Up, Florida! provides a great
opportunity for Floridians of all abilities, young and old to take the
first step toward healthy living!

in your area, you can visit the Step Up, Florida! web site at
