"Share the Road" Specialty License Tag

If you have to drive, at least you can show
others where your heart is. Do it with the Share the Road specialty license
tag.
Profits from tag sales are split between Bike
Florida and FBA. By law the tag proceeds benefit
- Education and awareness programs for
bicycle safety and motorist safety, with emphasis on sharing the roadway
by all users
- Training, workshops, educational
materials, and media events
- The promotion of safe bicycling
Billboards
promoting the tag are placed around the state.

Florida Traffic and
Bicycle Safety Education Program
FBA supports the
Florida Traffic and Bicycle Safety Education Program,
a state-wide, comprehensive school- based program geared for teaching
elementary and middle school children traffic savvy through classroom
instruction and on-bike skills. The program teaches educators, youth
leaders, and resource officers bicycle & traffic safety skills and rules of
the road. They, in turn, teach children to act predictably and competently
in traffic.
Interested in scheduling a training? Check
the above link for more details. Then please call (352)392-8192 or email
safetyed@grove.ufl.edu to discuss your
interests and possible training dates. For a training to run smoothly, we
suggest 4-6 weeks to plan the event. There are occasions when that much
time is not available; we will do our best to accommodate individual needs.
The FTBSEP provides all necessary training materials and equipment for the
course. However, it is necessary to rely on a local contact to secure an
adequate training facility, publicize the event, pre-register and confirm
attendants, and make other important arrangements prior to the training. We
look forward to your inquiries.

League of American
Bicyclists BikeEd Program
FBA promotes
League of
American Bicyclists BikeEd Program courses in cooperation with the
Florida Traffic and Bicycle Safety Education Program.
Road I Course
The Road I course, geared toward adult
cyclists, provides instruction and guidance in the implementation of the
basic principles of bicycling. The course combines classroom
discussion/activities with on-road practice. The instructor for this course
is certified by the League of American Bicyclists. The BikeEd program is the
League's major education initiative and continues to be the only nationally
recognized program with certified instructors. Courses are offered by League
Certified Instructors for communities, community colleges, universities, or
local safety agencies.
Check the Courses and
Workshops page for the current schedule of upcoming courses.
