Incoming Board President’s Advocacy Highlights Commitment to Cyclists' Well-Being

Courtney Reynolds, of Sanford, was recently appointed to serve as President of the Board of Directors for the Florida Bicycle Association. Her focus on bicyclist safety is reflected in her work on the Florida Bicycle Safety Quiz and her efforts to educate bicyclists and motorists on safe practices.

In a milestone for the Florida Bicycle Association, Courtney Reynolds of Sanford has been appointed once more to serve as the president of the non-profit organization's board of directors. The appointment was made by vote of the board during the association's annual meeting on October 14. This re-election underscores Courtney's continued commitment and leadership within the organization, building upon her extensive involvement since joining the board in 2018.

Courtney’s deep-rooted history within Florida Bicycle includes serving in crucial roles during her five-year tenure on the board. Among her proudest achievements is her instrumental support in the creation of the online Florida Bicycle Safety Quiz. An educational tool, the innovative bike safety quiz includes modules for children, adult cyclists, and car drivers. The quiz is free, helps participants learn as they go, and already has helped more than 1,200 people throughout the Sunshine State become better bicyclists and drivers.

“We look forward to expanding the quiz into schools soon and helping Florida’s children learn not only how to be safe as bicyclists, but how to be safe as motorists when they reach that stage,” Courtney said.

A passionate advocate for cycling safety, Courtney is certified by the League of American Bicyclists as a League Certified Instructor (LCI.) She also is certified by the American Bicycling Education Association as a Cycling Savvy Instructor and leads Florida Bicycle’s Ride Leader/Ride Marshal training classes and certifications.

“Courtney’s' election as president signifies a continuity of visionary leadership and a dedication to furthering Florida Bicycle’s mission,” said Eric Draper, former board president. “Her wealth of experience, coupled with a passion for promoting safe cycling practices, ensures a promising and vibrant future for the Association and the cycling community across Florida.”

The annual meeting also saw the appointment of Caitlin Cerame, of Pensacola, to serve as vice president, and Eric, of Tallahassee, to serve as treasurer. Also during the meeting, Roger McVeigh, of Key West, was elected to serve his first term as a board member.

Courtney, Eric, Caitlin and Roger are joined by the following volunteer directors in service to the organization: Conroy Jacobs of Palm Bay, Rich Garrett of University Park, Gail Woods of Orlando, and Michelle Avola-Brown of Lehigh Acres.
